Very exact and complete explanation of gmeter basics. Pleasure to read.

Due to confusions caused by comparing acceleration which earth "g" is creating to the device, and an acceleration created by relocation (the readings from gmeter seem to be inverse sign for earth G), I suggest to think of the gmeter readings as representing the the vector product of mechanical forces applied to FR's case (neglecting inertial rotation).

A magnetic compass might be difficult to implement into a device of FR type (non-constant electric currents), and also is misguiding in many environments. On the other hand there are very sensitive gyroscopes used e.g for picture stabilization purposes in video cameras.
