GSM oscillating between registered and not registered

GSM switches between registered and not registered in deep sleep mode. The distributions have a fix for it so that the modem does not enter deep sleep mode but with that you cannot reach maximum runtime.
A hardware fix for the deep sleep problem is described here. [1]
With that fix, you can enter deep sleep mode without the reregistering problem.
