From the descriptions people give (like: works perfect sometimes, but on other days doesn't get a fix at all) it really could be bad soldering or bad antenna connector. Though I didn't chek my FR yet. Btw. the soldering on my antenna looks the same, but unbelievably there's no short-circuit ;)

Does it really fix the problem?

I think there are more than this problem: [1] while my plug looks like this: [2]. please see also https://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/1542

From the descriptions people give (like: works perfect sometimes, but on other days doesn't get a fix at all) it really could be bad soldering or bad antenna connector. Though I didn't chek my FR yet. Btw. the soldering on my antenna looks the same, but unbelievably there's no short-circuit ;)
