I think that this page can be used to share the information related to importing. I didn't have any information how much the customs and local authorities would take. I added my experience.--[[User:Juhapekka.piiroinen|Juhapekka.piiroinen]] 00:39, 31 October 2007 (CET)

Any information on US release? Answer: Sometime around end of April or beginning of May. Thanks. -Liane

Feedback on Finland

I didn't know that a social security number of recipient would be needed, or is it required only when a trouble happens during the customs clearance process? Yes, we always provide a tracking number to the receiver whenever there is a package shipped out. Thanks. -Liane

UPS Info for calculating Shipment

Going off a hint I found in one of the emails on openmoko-announce, I ran an estimate at the UPS website basing the estimate on a ship from address of SUZHOU, 215003, CHINA. I don't know whether that is the correct "ship from" address/postcode, but it is at least giving me some sort of idea what to expect, even if I don't recognise the currency they are using (RMB?).

According to xe.com the exchange rate for RMB to USD is about 1 CNY = 0.131900 USD

Which makes packaging cost about £30 from SUZHOU, 215003 to UK. Champion :-) cheers --Awrowe

Illegal advice?

The section for Finland advices "to ship it with a low declared value like between 20 to 45 euros". Isn't it illegal to give wrong declared value in order to avoid customs/taxes? Is OpenMoko-team really advocating illegal tax-evading measures?
